‘’ THE JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES BEGINS WITH A SINGLE STEP’’
Starting a weight loss journey can be intimidating. However using lemon water for weight loss, can make it easy.
Especially if you’ve tried and failed in the past, think about starting a new weight loss lifestyle with lemon water first thing in the morning.
MY STORY: HOW I LOST 5LBS in 2 WEEKS with LEMON WATER.
I have always been svelte and fit since I was in my teens, till recently.
I gradually started putting on weight. My clothes seemed tighter and I increased 2 sizes in 3 months.
I am usually a morning person: that is the time dedicated to meditation and my workout. However, for a few months, my sleep seemed disturbed and I was unable to get up in the morning.
I felt cranky, irritable and constipated. At the end of 3 months, I had put on 15 lbs. I was in a state of panic!
An urgent visit to the doctor was warranted. Blood tests showed I had an underactive thyroid gland with symptoms of Hypothyroidism. I was put on medication.
THE LEMON WATER FOR WEIGHT LOSS 14 DAY PROTOCOL
In a few weeks, I felt better but I was stuck with all this weight. I started doing the rounds of dietitians, surfed the net and sought advice from friends. Nothing seemed to help until I started this 14-day lemon challenge for weight loss.
Day 1: Mix together one squeezed lemon with a cup of water and drink right after you wake up (before eating anything else).
Day 2: Mix together two squeezed lemons and two cups of water. Add 1 tsp. honey for taste. Drink right after you wake up.
Day 3: Mix together three squeezed lemons with three cups of water and a little honey. Drink half first thing in the morning and the other half just before lunch.
Day 4: Mix together four squeezed lemons with four cups of water and a little honey. Consume it three times a day, in the morning right after you wake up, before lunch and in the evening before going to bed.
Day 5: Mix togetherfive squeezed lemons with 5 cups of water and honey. Drink it three times just like the day before (but more each serving).
Day 6: Mix together six juiced lemons with six cups of water and a little honey. Consume the mixture three times a day before meals.
Day 7: Mix together three juiced lemons and 10 cups of water. Consume it three times a day before meals.
Day 8: Mix together 6 squeezed lemons with 6 cups of water. Consume it three times a day before meals.
Day 9: Mix together 5 squeezed lemons with 5 cups of water and honey. Drink it three times as before.
Day 10: Mix together four squeezed lemons with four cups of water and a little honey. Consume it three times a day as before.
Day 11: Squeeze 3 lemons and mix the juice with 3 cups of water. Add a teaspoon of honey and drink it twice a day.
Day 12: Mix lemon juice from 2 lemons with 2 cups of water and drink it in the morning before breakfast.
Day 13: Drink juice from one lemon and one cup of water.
Day 14: Prepare a drink from 3 lemons and 10 cups of water. Also, add a tablespoon of honey before you consume it.
And that’s it! After you’ve finished the 14 days, I recommend drinking one glass of lemon water every morning indefinitely.
Here are the weight loss and other benefits of lemon water.
WHY LEMON WATER FOR WEIGHT LOSS?
1.Boost Metabolism by Lemon water
Drinking adequate amounts of water helps to temporarily increase the number of calories that you burn. When you add fresh lemon juice, you increase the weight loss benefits.
Starting your day with a glass of hot lemon water can kick-start your metabolism and your body into a calorie burning-mode early in the day. People with this healthy habit often are able to skip the calories they would have consumed by eating breakfast, or by eating less of it.
2.Prevents Fat Accumulation
Lemons help reduce and prevent weight gain in a variety of ways by suppressing body fat accumulation. They may also increase metabolism. I am telling you, your best friend for weight loss is lemon water.
3.Lemon Water is Low in Calories
If you’re not adding any sugar to your lemon water, there are almost no calories in what you’re drinking and almost no sugar.
Half of a lemon in a glass of water is a total of about six calories. Plus, some studies have shown that if you have a low-calorie drink with a meal, you often end up consuming less food during that meal than if you were to have milk, juice, soda or an alcoholic beverage.
4.Drinking Lemon Water Can Make You Feel More Full
As we mentioned above, drinking water before a meal can fill you up, but especially when using lemon for weight loss by adding it to your drink.
A recent study shows that drinking about a half-liter of water before eating a meal cuts the calories eaten by 13%. Of course, eating less is what leads to weight loss, so this is a great method to try!
Scientists believe this happens because the water makes you feel full, even though you’ve consumed no calories. Adding in some lemon slices to water can help give it an exciting flavor and make it easier to consume.
5.Drinking Lemon Water Keeps You Hydrated
Often, our bodies cannot tell the difference between hunger and thirst pangs. We might reach for a snack, not recognizing that what our body actually craves is water, not food. This highlights the fact that having enough water in our bodies is crucially important, not only to weight loss but for our health.
6.Pairing Lemon Water with Green Tea Prevents Serious Illnesses
Many people have green tea daily because it has been tied to weight loss in some recent studies.
While that’s true, adding lemon to your green tea routine has a huge health benefit: it reduces your risk of some cancers.
7. Lemons reduce Insulin and Cholesterol
Lemons also contain a fiber called pectin that’s been shown in studies to impact weight loss. Pectin can work as an anti-inflammatory agent, reducing bloating and puffiness. It also can assist in reducing the absorption of fat in your body and regulating your insulin (blood sugar) levels. Even more impressive, pectin has been shown in some studies to lower LDL or “bad” cholesterol.
8.Drinking Lemon Water Helps with Digestion
Lemons have a lot of acidity to them, but these are acids that can help your body rather than harm it. In some cases, these acids slow your digestion down which helps you to absorb nutrients that pass through your body as you eat.
The slow absorption rate helps your body regulate your blood sugar and helps your body send the nutrients where they need to go.
9.Drinking Lemon Water Helps with Detoxification
Water is key to any sort of detoxification program and when you mix in lemons, you’re going to get even more of a benefit. The nutrients in the lemon promote good liver health and help you release toxins within your blood system.
.A compound in the peels can actually stimulate your liver enzymes, getting rid of waste and even in some cases, can get your bowels moving if you’ve been having trouble.
10. Lemon Water Keeps You from Getting Sick
Think about the last time you got sick. You might have lost a little weight from not eating, but quickly gained it all back once you felt better, right? You also likely weren’t able to hit the gym or do your normal workout routine.
Here’s some good news about drinking lemon water: the naturally occurring vitamin C that’s found in lemons can help keep you healthy and free of illness. That’s because of the power vitamin C has in boosting your immune system.
- Lemon Water Gives You a Boost of Energy in the Morning
There’s no doubt about it: drinking lemon water in the morning is simply the best time. Our body goes through an amazing amount of restorative functions while we sleep, many of which require the nutrients that are found in water.
Having a cup of lemon water in the morning will rehydrate you and give you a boost of energy. Not only that, it will start your day by removing any toxins that your body worked overnight to process out of your system. If you find that you’re often hungry upon immediately waking up, the lemon water might even calm some of those hunger pangs!
